Pidato Bahasa Inggris: Education in Indonesia

      Asslamualaikum wr. wb.
 
      The honorable ones the principle of SMA Negeri 01 Tanjung, all teachers and administration staffs of SMA Negeri 01 Tanjung and all my friends from tenth until twelfth grade.
Before I begin to give a speech, I would like to invite you all to thank Allah the Almighty, Who has given us Mercy and Blessing, so we can meet together in this blessing place. And also let’s deliver sholawat and salam to our prophet Muhammad SAW, Who has brought us from the darkness to the brightness, so we are always in the right path.  
 
     Ladies and gentlemen, It be a great honor for me, to stand right here in front of you all to give a speech about education under the title "Education in Indonesia" in this National Education Day or HARDIKNAS.
 
      Indonesian is a great country. It has so many natural resources that can be used. It has so many beautiful palaces that can mesmerize people. It is so beautiful to live here peacefully with different cultures, languages, and religions. However, why are there still many people who live under poverty in this country? The only answer to this question is because our human resources are still low in the term of education.
 
If you have ever heard about the news about our international education rank, you would be surprised. As quoted form Education for All (EFA) Global Monitoring Report  2011 which is published by UNESCO and launched in New York on Sunday, 1/3/2011,  our international education rank is at 69th place from 129 surveyed countries all over the world. This rank is lower than in 2010.
It opens a question that runs in my head, what happen with our education? Indonesia is a great country with many talented young generations. It was undoubted again that there are so many Indonesian students who win the international education Olympiads such as mathematics, chemical, physics and other. But why our international education rank is still low. So what happen with with our education? 
 
      Ladies and gentlemen, There must be a reason why our human resources and our global rank in education are still low. One of the reasons is that our education is expensive. For middle up to high class people the cost of our education is nothing. But for those who live in lower economic class, the cost of our education is beyond their reach. Many of them even abandon their duty to go to school just because they have to work to fulfill their needs.
 
      Our government has made a policy recently to overcome the problem in our education. The policy is increasing national educational budget up to 20% from APBN. This budget later on is used to make education is reachable for low economic level society; to improve teachers’ quality with a program which well known as “sertifikasi”; and to provide school facilities such as library, classroom, laboratory, and sport hall.
 
      We hope the policy that the government made will make our educational quality better. Of course as a student, we don’t just sit down and relax without doing something. Good or bad the quality of education of our country also depend us. If we want to change our bad educational paradigm, let’s begin with improving our achievement with studying hard for the sake of our education.
 
      I hope this speech that I deliver today will be useful for you all. Thank you so much for your attention. The last I say:

Assalamualaikum Wr. Wb

     Honorable ones the juries, the participant of English speech contest, and all audiences.

Before I begin to give a speech, I would like to invite you to thank to Allah the Almighty, Who has given us Mercy and Blessing, so we can meet together in this place. And let’s deliver sholawat and salam to our prophet Muhammad SAW, Who has brought us from the darkness to the brightness, so we are always in the right path.

    Ladies and gentlemen, Drug? What is that? I am sure you all already know, and may be better than me about what drug is and what the advantages and disadvantages are. Drugs actually are medicine for anesthetize patients in surgery. But that perception was misapplied by some people.

     Drugs have been misapplied by some people for a long time. Some people which use drugs beyond the medical treatment consider that drugs can make them feel better when they facing some problems , make them feel easy to find new brilliant ideas or just for a pleasure.

     I am sure you will never forget the accident in Tugu Tani, Jakarta, when a drugs user, Apriliani, drove her car with high speed and hit the pedestrians in a Tugu Tani bus stop. The recent tragedy in Pondok Indah where a man with the influence of drugs drove his car and hit many people on the road is another example. It obviously proofs that in the effect of drugs, hallucination of the drugs user is bigger than other normal people. They cannot distinguish between the real world and the hallucination world and consider all things in around them are like a dream and not real.

     The effect of drugs are not only dangerous for drugs user themselves but also people surrounding. For the users, drugs are so risky because they may lead to overdoses, HIV/AIDS and brain or mental damage. Drugs are also dangerous for the people surrounding as it has already mentioned above. The dangers of consuming drugs open our eyes that the usage of drugs beyond the medical treatments is profitless. Because drugs just lead us in the destruction for the users themselves and for other people surrounding.

     But it is so sad, if we hear many of our young generations consume the drugs such as Heroin, cokain, Koplo, dextron, extacy, or marijuana . They merely consume drugs to get drunk, enjoyment, and temporal satisfaction without consider the risks.

     As moslems we have the guidance from the holy qur’an that drinking alcoholic drink is forbiden, and it is bad action, and despicable deed, as Allah Said in the holy qur'an : "ya ayyuhalladzina amanu innamal khomru walmaysir wal anshob wal azlam rijsummin amalisyton fajtanibuhu laalakum tuflihun." It means : "oh ye the believers actually alcoholic drink, gambling, and draw destiny is despicable from the evil’s action so avoid them, may be you will be the pleasure people.(almaidah verse : 90)"

     Because the drugs or the alcoholic drink is so dangerous for our health, for our body, for our future. So we must keep a way from it. we must avoid it. Don’t try to consume it, don’t try to sell or buy it. Those are what I can deliver to you at this moment, thank a lot for your attention and I ask forgiveness for my mistakes, and the last I say:

      Before I begin to deliver this speech, I would like to invite you to thank to Allah the Almighty, Who has given us Mercy and Blessing, so we can meet together in this blessing place. And also let's deliver Sholawat and Salam to our prophet Muhammad SAW, Who has brought us from the darkness to the brightness.
 
      To celebrate an annual event of Earth Day on April 22, today I would like to deliver a speech about "Our Environment". 
 
      Realize it or not, we live in this world depends on the environment, we drink water from our environment, we breath air from our environment and we eat foods which are planted from our environment. Our environment has a great influence in our live. Our environment gives us life. Good or bad the condition of our environment will definitely affect our live even our existence. Our environment is our life.
 
      Let's close our eyes and remember few years back. Few years ago, there were many green trees around us but now those green trees are gone and replaced with grey stiff buildings.  Few years ago, we could still breath deeper to fill our lung with fresh air of oxygen but now that refreshing oxygen was gone and replaced with thick Carbon Monoxide. Few years ago, we could still look at our reflections on the river because of the clear water but now those reflection was gone and replaced with pale face of trash.
 
      Grey stiff building that we see, carbon monoxide that we breath, and polluted water that we drink become our daily menu right now. Do we just stay still and enjoy those bitter menu everyday? Or we can do something small hoping to see green trees, breath fresh oxygen, and drink clear water once more.
 
      Small action such as planting some trees, put trash in the right place, save electricity, and reduce the usage of motor vehicle will save our environment from destruction. If those small actions are done by people in this world, it will create an opportunity to restore our environment from destruction once more.
 
     The future condition of our environment depends on us. We who live now have a big responsibility to restore our environment so in the future we can still live a better life. Remember my friends, our environment is our life. If it is destroyed, our life will be destroyed too. Treat it well and it will treat us well.
 
      That is all my speech. I hope my brief speech about the environment will be useful for us.  And also I would like to say sorry for all of my mistakes. Thank you very much for your attention.

      Before I begin to give a speech, I would like to invite you to thank to Allah the Almighty, Who has given us Mercy and Blessing, so we can meet together in this blessing place. And also I don't forget to deliver sholawat and salam to our prophet Muhammad SAW, Who has brought us from the darkness to the brightness, so we are always in the right way.
 
      My dear friends, What was the first thing you figured out in your head when you heard a word "Mom". A best friend? A wish-adviser? A good teacher? Or a real hero? Whatever it is, one thing is clear she is EVERYTHING.
 
      It is hard to find a word to describe a person who always encourages us to be the real us; a person who shows the right path when we lost; a person who always listen well to every single problems we have and the person who never stop to support us. Yeah, Mom is indeed EVERYTHING.
 
      'Mom is EVERYTHING' may be the only explanation that can explain all good things she has done to us. Just remember for a second how much tears she has dropped to make us grow healthy, and live happily. Just remember for a moment how many sacrifices she has done to see us succeed and independent.
 
      She gives us love that none else can give. She gives us happiness that nothing else can give. She gives us valuable lessons of live that no teachers can give. She gives us everything because she thinks we are EVERYTHING to her.
 
      My friends, in this fine moment of Mother's Day, let's make it as a day to remind everything she has done to us, her sons. Let's make this day as the starting point to give loves like she has given, to give happiness like she has given. Because she is everything. She deserves all good things in this world. Let's repay all her kindness with  always be good sons, be a pride of her and be her hero in her old days.
 
      Not much words that I give in this opportunity, because I think this speech is not aimed to reply all affection, sacrifice, love, laugh and tears of Mom that she gives. But I hope after hearing this speech, let's reply her affection, sacrifice, love, laugh and tears of our Mom with grant all her hopes. Thank you.
